The Membership Committee supports the growth and vitality of the Association by leading recruitment initiatives and assisting in the development of new chapters. It maintains accurate membership records and manages the virtual membership database.  Additionally, the committee ensures members of upcoming renewals to keep the organization’s membership strong and engaged.

Responsibility

  • Initiates programs for membership recruitment for the Association.
  • Provides assistance and guidance to establish and develop new chapters.
  • Maintains a copy of the membership roster and fee collection.
  • Maintains membership categories, membership fee structure, membership status, and demographic data.
  • Updates the virtual membership list and updates any expiring membership fees with a notice to the expiring member.

Lyssy Alex

Lyssy Alex is a dedicated nurse leader based in New York City, currently serving as Nurse Manager of High-Risk OB and the Well-Baby Nursery at Westchester Medical Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, laying a strong academic foundation for her career in maternal and neonatal healthcare.

An active and committed member of Indian Nurses Association of New York (INANY), Lyssy has served the organization in multiple leadership roles. She completed two terms as Treasurer, served as Area Coordinator for Rockland and Westchester, and currently holds the position of Membership Chair. She has also represented nurses as a delegate for the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA).

As Membership Chair for National Association of Indian Nurses of America (NAINA) for the 2025–2026 term, Lyssy is committed to strengthening the organization’s outreach and impact. Her goals include fostering effective communication among NAINA chapters to expand membership and enhance programs and services; providing guidance and support to establish and develop new chapters; maintaining an accurate and updated membership database; and promoting collaboration with other professional associations to increase affiliated and virtual membership.

Through her leadership, Lyssy remains dedicated to advancing professional nursing practice and building a strong, connected nursing community.
